Sam Thomas, Ph.D.- Advisor
Dr. Sam Thomas PhD is a member of the Banking and Finance faculty at the Weatherhead School of Management of Case Western Reserve University. He teaches in the Weatherhead MBA, MS, and Undergraduate programs. His research and consulting activities focus on the practice of investment science and valuation. His notable expertise is in integrating the global macro business cycle with practices in corporate finance strategy and investments strategy.
Dr. Thomas is active in the research and development activities of financial advisors and money managers and is known for his ability to materially integrate academic research with product development. His recent projects incorporate innovations in the design of life-long portfolio construction and portfolio draw-downs that integrate asset allocation with phases of the business cycle in a manner that is compatible with investment objectives.
Dr. Thomas is a frequent contributor to conferences of institutional investor groups around the world and has served as a Senior Research Fellow at several research and development institutes. Dr. Thomas designed India's first monthly consumer confidence index and several other survey based macro indices.
Dr. Thomas received his master's and PhD degrees in finance from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, his MBA from the College of William and Mary, and his MA (Hons) in Economics from the Birla Institute of Technology and Science. Dr. Thomas has won six teaching excellence awards at the Weatherhead School of Management. Dr. Thomas serves as an advisor or board member to several entities run by his alumni.

Clark Khayat, JD
Clark is the head of Corporate Development and Investor Relations for The Progressive Corporation.
Before joining Progressive, Clark spent nearly six years at National City Corporation as Vice President, Corporate Finance. In his roles at National City, Clark’s responsibilities included Finance, Asset/Liability Management, Accounting Services, Procurement, and Management Reporting / Planning. Mr. Khayat also led the ‘Best in Class’ Program Office at the bank, where he oversaw planning, Six Sigma, and measuring and reporting functions.
Prior to his roles at National City, Clark served as an Engagement Manager with McKinsey & Company.
Khayat earned his Juris Doctorate from the University of Pennsylvania and his Bachelor degree in Economics from Dartmouth College.
